You’re a moron Scott. no way Lee signs a 4 year/70 Mill deal. He’s gonna want and get more years. you obviously don’t follow baseball (typical Yankee fan). El Prez really needs to get better writers on this side of the site.
i would gladly have the yankees win 162 games and the world series every season from now until the end of time if it meant that you dropped dead right now. I seriously fucking hate you. we all hate you. die. now.
4 years is the largest joke of all time. He gets at least 5 probably 6. Thurman, although I reflect your name is repulsive, I really agree on everything you say. If Scott had Cerebral Palsy I would no be the least bit surpirsed.
I am a Yankees fan and skipping his start was completely justified. He has been throwing a lot of innings, and why stretch him with off days when we don’t have to. there is a difference linking those dumb ass Joba rules and skipping a young pitcher’s start to keep his innings down.
This being said, the most ignorant part of your entire post is the fact that you reflect he takes over Vazquez’s spot instead of Pettitte’s.
The only person that wants to hear you talk about the Yankees is your Cubs Scout leader. If you want to hear about actual Yankees commentary, please feel free to try out out riveraveblues.com (no association by me other than reader).
El Pres, I would rather be skinned to death and eaten by whatever is in my yard than ever listen to this idiot post again. please fire him.
Parms, I believe Vazquez is on a one year deal, I don’t reflect we will be coming back. Looks like Andy has another year or two left in the tank, I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back next season. and yea Lee will get more than 4 years but he is 2 years older than Sabathia so I bet he’ll get 5, MAYBE 6.
I be with you why they skipped Hughes start but it certainly showed last night, he was completely out of whack. Due to the tightness of the AL East race, every game is big and to throw one away like that is kind of disheartening.
lee may be older but he is also a better pitcher right now and also not a fat slob like sabathia…lee gets minimum of 5 years and most likely 6…he is also going to possibly have the team who trades for him by the balls because they might feel the pressure to sign him if they give up any big time prospects ie the mets and mejia…me personally, i would trade for lee and then let him go and take the 2 recruit picks when he signs elsewhere
uhh mhops you reflect you’re going to trade for lee and not give up more than the two recruit picks you’ll get when he leaves? the mariners reflect they’re still in it 15 games back, you’re gonna have to give them some pretty excellent young value to get them to trade lee. Otherwise they’ll just wait and get the picks themselves. they want a young catcher, for example a montero with the yankees- you ain’t gettin that back with two recruit picks.
but really, 4 years 70 mil? you do know burnett got 5 years, 82.5- right? thats aj burnett- the injury prone, excellent sometimes, awful other times, not-anywhere-near-as-fucking-excellent-as-Cliff-Lee-dude who is on the Yankees. If you’re going to blog baseball at least have some fucking thought what you’re discussion about.
the point isn’t the contract asshats. the point is he’s going to end up in pinstripes this offseason.
and yes he will take vazquez’s place. pettitte has another year or 2 in him, vazquez is a FA, and the yanks will be pleased to take the 2 recruit picks from whatever NL team signs him.
Despite the name, i really have to back Scott here. theres no way he gets Sabathia’s contract he’s gonna be 5 years older the CC was when yanks signed him. Excellent comparison is Halladay who signed 3 year additional room. 4 year contract for a 32 year old Clif Lee is really reasonable. 5 years is likely, 6 is pushing it even for the Steinbrenners.
Uhh John Lackey got 5 years so…your retarded.
The Yankees aren’t getting Lee anyways. Fucking Derek Jeter and Rivera are getting around $40 million combined. they have big spikes in their pay to arbitration players. The Yankees don’t have much cash at all for next year, and before you say anything, they didn’t this year either and got scrubs like Nick Johnson and Randy Winn. there is no way they blow tons of money on Cliff Lee. they have too many guys safe and sound in long term as it is. call me a hater all you want, the Red Sox have their key guys safe and sound in long term at mostly discounted contracts while the Yankees are going to get killed on the backend of these deals.
the fact is that the mets would have to give up probably mejia and flores who are both a ways from contributing on the major league level (mejia as a starter needs to develop a 2nd and 3rd pitch before he can start in the majors and flores is 4+ years away from being an everyday major league player imo)…so there’s your two recruit picks and if one of those is a college pitcher then his timetable would be similar to mejia’s and if the other was a HS player than his timetable would be similar to flores’
as far as the yankees and signing lee…he is going to get 5 years at least because some team out there is going to place forward him 5 years and he isn’t going to take a pay cut to come to the yankees…he clearly wants to best contract out there so the yanks would be forced to place forward him at least the 5 years and equal or greater $ than any other team also offering him 5 years and make no mistake there will be a 5 year place forward out there from someone
